German and European Studies

Taught in English or German

The following courses are designed to familiarize you with the region and help complete requirements for other disciplines. Most courses taught in German are appropriate for students in Track III and above (please visit the USAC website for complete course descriptions). Courses taught in English are appropriate for all students.

Fall Semester

  • Economic and Political Institutions of the European Union (ECON/PSC, 3 credits, 400-level, taught in English)
  • Ethnic Conflict and Diversity in Europe (ANTH, 3 credits, 300-level, taught in English)
  • German Speaking Europe and Its Cultures (FLL, 3 credits, 200-level, taught in English)
  • International Affairs since 1945 (PSC, 3 credits, 400/600-level, taught in English)
  • Internship (Independent Study, up to 3 credits, taught in German)

Spring Semester

  • Government and Politics in Germany and Europe (PSC, 3 credits, 400/600-level, taught in English)
  • Internship (Independent Study, up to 3 credits, taught in German)
  • Myths and Legends (FLL, 3 credits, 300-level, taught in German)
  • Survey of Art – European/Western Art (ART, 3 credits, 200-level, taught in German)
  • Intercultural Communication (COM, 3 credits, 400-level, taught in English)
