Full Curriculum Studies

The Program

The Norway program offers students the opportunity to enroll at the University of Oslo in a wide range of courses taught in English. Students can take courses in such areas as Scandinavian Studies, Economics, Natural Science, Mathematics, Social Science, Media, Technology and Literature. The academic year runs from August to June and is divided into two semesters. Students may choose either the semester or the yearlong program.

Students have the option of taking the 30 hour Beginners' Course in Norwegian in addition to their normal study program. Although most people in Norway speak English, we strongly recommend you take this optional course, as it will help you to assimilate better into Norwegian life, and you will find the Norwegians appreciate your effort to speak their language.

Students begin their stay in Oslo with an orientation to the university, region, and country including field trips and social activities. At the conclusion of this program, students begin their regular coursework.

The Oslo program is administered in the U.S. by USAC and in Oslo, Norway by a Program Coordinator who is responsible for the overall operations of the program abroad: securing appropriate student housing and overseeing the students' well being.

Anna Buverud, a native of Norway, is the on-site Program Coordinator. She and her colleagues at the International Education Office will provide an orientation, answer your questions regarding housing and other practical matters and arrange social events.
