The summer Accra program is ideal for students who wish to combine a formal academic perspective of Ghanaian culture with field trips and tours that provide a unique opportunity to visit Ghana’s most important historical landmarks and rich cultural environment. The summer Accra program offers one 6-week session offering students a wide variety of courses exploring African culture, literature and politics.
The Accra program has a Resident Director who is responsible for the overall operations of the program abroad: securing appropriate student housing, hiring outstanding faculty, organizing exciting field trips and optional tours and overseeing your general well-being.
Abigail Thompson, a Ghana native, is the Resident Director for the Accra program and is a two year veteran of USAC. She earned a Masters degree from the University of Twente, Enschede-The Netherlands and is fluent in Twi, Fanti, Ga and English. Abigail will meet the group flight at the airport and provide an on-site orientation as well as additional support and resources while you are on the program.
