Why Study in London?
The London program at London Metropolitan (LondonMet) University is ideal for students interested in living and studying in one of the most exciting cities in Europe. The program enables you to gain firsthand experience with the British educational system alongside students from all over the world. You may study for one semester or a full year and choose from courses such as Art and Design, Business, Marketing, Economics, English, History, Social Sciences and Psychology. Students typically select four classes per semester which can include specialized courses, some of which include visits to art galleries, museums and theatre, utilizing London’s thriving cultural life as a unique backdrop for further study and exploration. London Metropolitan University allows you to schedule your classes before you arrive in London, making it a very easy process.
There are several excellent reasons for deciding to study in the U.K. Courses at British universities are taught by professors who do almost all the teaching and tutorial work with undergraduates while maintaining a high level of research activity. Although the U.K. shares a common language with the United States, it remains a foreign country, with diverse traditions, values and views of the world. Time in the United Kingdom will challenge you personally, open your eyes to different ways of looking at the current problems of the world and enable you to directly experience the wonderful culture and history of the European continent.
Each semester begins with a weeklong orientation program, which includes prearranged airport arrival reception for a nominal fee, registration and orientation, and open access to the university-wide welcome program. During orientation, the study abroad team provides information about living in London, dealing with culture shock, the British higher education system, teaching and study methods, health and safety issues, and travel opportunities in the U.K. and Europe. A guided tour of central London and various social activities are also included.
The International Programmes Office provides a friendly focal point and ready source of information. The committed team will help you arrange your semester and ensure that your experience is integrated and rewarding. There is an induction before formal teaching begins, which includes a welcome reception, registration and orientation. Students are fully integrated into the academic and social life of London Metropolitan University, which includes social clubs, a wide range of student support services, a library, learning resources and sports facilities.
