Business, Sociology and Indian Cultural Studies

Why Study in Bangalore?

The summer Bangalore program is ideal for students unable to participate on the semester or yearlong program and who are interested in studying business, sociology and Indian cultural studies while living in one of the most fascinating and interesting regions of India. Bangalore is an ideal place to learn how the technological and business revolution is transforming traditional Indian society into a fast-paced hybrid of East-West life. Its location in India's Silicon Valley also makes it an excellent spot for networking and developing contacts with companies involved in software and business outsourcing.

The summer Bangalore program offers two five-week sessions. You may participate in one or both sessions. However, the academic courses are only a part of the intended value of a summer abroad. Participation in formal and informal activities, such as field trips to local towns and historical temples, form an integral part of the program.

The Bangalore program has a Resident Director who oversees the USAC office abroad and is responsible for the overall operations of the program: securing appropriate student housing, hiring outstanding faculty, organizing exciting field trips and overseeing your general well-being.

Jacob John is the Resident Director for the Bangalore program. Jacob graduated from Christ University with a degree in Catering and Hospitality Management. He has been a resident of Bangalore for more than 35 years and speaks Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and English. Jacob will meet the group flight at the airport and provide an on-site orientation as well as additional support and resources while you are on the program.
