International Business and Economic Studies
The Program
The Copenhagen program combines academic coursework with cultural enrichment. As a student at the Copenhagen Business School (CBS), you have the opportunity to study international business and economics, giving you an important academic foundation as well as an opportunity for making personal international business contacts. All courses are taught in English and are attended by Danish and other international students as well as USAC participants.
The program offers a business and economics curriculum designed to address core degree requirements (Corporate Finance, Marketing, Organizational Behavior) while providing a rich complement of courses with an international scope (Issues in International Finance, International Management, International Economics). The Copenhagen Business School has twelve undergraduate programs in business offering courses within all major subjects of business as well as graduate programs offering advanced courses in intercultural communication and management, applied economics and finance, international business and international marketing and management. Through a well chosen selection of CBS courses, you may give more depth or another approach to your studies at your home institution, support a major focus, fulfill major requirements, or add an international dimension to any line of specialization.
CBS starts each semester with a mandatory language course in Danish for study abroad students, consisting of five days of intensive instruction (4 hours per day). The course can help make your stay in Denmark more exciting by providing a guide to Danish society, giving you a working basic knowledge of Danish, including a general introduction and a feel for the commonly used vocabulary, grammar and syntax. Cultural aspects also will be covered in this course.
The Copenhagen program has a Program Coordinator who is responsible for the overall operations of the program abroad: securing appropriate student housing, assisting with registration and overseeing the students' well being. Robin Jensen, a Denmark native, is the Program Coordinator for the Copenhagen program.
The Introduction and Buddy Coordinators will arrange for a "buddy" to meet you at the airport and take you to your housing. You will receive an on-site orientation where you will discuss practical problems and receive various materials that will help you adjust to your new surroundings. Niels Henrik Larsen and Camilla R. Vestergaard will be your academic advisors and contacts for everyday questions and concerns.
