USAC Resident Directors Mark Quigley and Patrick Bixby ...

The summer Galway program has a Resident Director who is responsible for the overall operations of the program: securing appropriate student housing, hiring outstanding faculty, organizing exciting field trips and optional tours, and overseeing your general well-being. Dr. Mark Quigley is the Resident Director for the Galway program and is a seven-year veteran of USAC. He writes and teaches on a variety of topics in modern Irish literature and has lived and studied in Ireland for a number of years. He will provide you with the mandatory orientation in Galway, give a tour of the city and the university campus, direct you to your housing, arrange field trips and social events, and provide additional support while you are on the program.

Mark works closely with a wonderful staff of colleagues including Caoilfhionn Ní Bheacháin, who is the Assistant Director of the program and teaches the Theatre course; Angus Mitchell, who teaches the History and Genealogy courses; Anne Ní Choirbín, who teaches the Gaelic course; Deaglán Ó Donghaile, who teaches the Literature course; and Méabh Ní Fhuartháin, an accomplished musician and scholar of Irish music who teaches the Music course and arranges a series of private concerts and traditional dance workshops from some of Ireland’s leading traditional musicians.
