As a USAC student, there are various activities and experiences offered to you, many of which include building relationships with local students. You are encouraged to participate in university activities, student clubs, and community organizations. These can be a natural way for you to meet French students. Sports may include basketball, dance, rock climbing, gymnastics, karate, swimming, rugby, tennis, archery, volleyball, yoga and others.

Community Activities

Several community organizations in Lyon offer courses in drawing, painting, cooking, music, and dance. Information concerning enrollment in these activities is available from the Resident Director on site. These activities may have a modest fee.

Cultural Immersion Opportunities

  • Participate with local students in the many different sports activities offered at the university
  • Interact with French locals in homestays or residence halls
  • Take part in campus activities and festivals
  • Volunteer to teach English in French schools
  • Participate in student clubs aimed towards social consciousness, business, arts and many more
