Activities for Gold Coast, Australia
Students may participate in the more than 80 clubs and societies that span educational, professional, political, recreational, social, cultural, religious, and sports interests. Sport facilities include tennis and squash courts, swimming pools, beach volleyball and basketball courts, and weight training. There are a number of optional “getaway” trips including the Discover Byron Bay trip immediately following your mandatory orientation. Byron Bay gives you your first taste of what you can discover during your Griffith experience: rain forest, rugged cliff faces, stunning hinterland and ocean, outstanding views for watching whales and dolphins, and rich Aboriginal and European heritage.
Some of the fun activities that are offered during the Gold Coast orientation include a vegemite eating contest, Tim Tam Slam competition, a meet and greet, and a Sausage Sizzle to get you acquainted with the other study abroad students. Within the first month, support workshops are offered by the library on topics such as research skills, time management, and using the library. Student LINX hosts free events and provides domestic and international students the opportunity to get together. You will want to be sure to get on the Griffith University Study Abroad and Exchange Facebook page and “What’s On?” to find out about activities on your campus and in your area.
You are also encouraged to participate in the opportunities listed below.
