Scholarships and Discounts
USAC has a variety of scholarships available to you for your studies abroad. Last year, USAC together with outside scholarship organizations awarded more than $867,000 to students. We also encourage you to research additional sources of financial aid and scholarships available to study abroad students. The USAC Scholarship/Alumni Coordinator maintains an updated list of available scholarships. If you have questions regarding scholarships, feel free to contact us at scholarships@usac.unr.edu.

USAC General Scholarship for Non-Consortium Students (all USAC programs)
If you do not attend a USAC Member University, we have scholarships available just for you. In some instances, we may have scholarships specifically allocated to your university as well. All USAC programs qualify for this scholarship.

USAC Legacy Scholarship (all USAC Specialty programs)
In celebration of USAC’s 30th year and to honor our long history in international education, Legacy Scholarships are available to the families (children, siblings, and spouses) of USAC alumni to attend a USAC Specialty Program. Awards will be given in the amount of $100 for January session, $300 for summer session, and $500 for semester. Applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis, with the final deadline 30 days prior to departure.

USAC Basque Country Scholarships (San Sebastián or Bilbao, Spain)
Félix Menchacatorre Memorial Scholarship
Memorial scholarship available to students attending a semester program in San Sebastián or Bilbao. Award amount $500.
R.J. Simcoe Memorial Scholarship
Memorial scholarship available to University of Nevada, Reno students attending a semester program in San Sebastián or Bilbao. Award amount $500.

USAC Program-Specific Scholarships
Massey University Scholarship (New Zealand)
Massey University, USAC’s longtime partner in hosting students in New Zealand, is offering $400 scholarships to help USAC students make their dreams of studying in New Zealand come true in 2012 and 2013. Applicants to any of Massey’s campus locations in New Zealand—Palmerston North, Auckland, or Wellington are eligible.
Lüneburg Work-Study Grant (Lüneburg, Germany)
A work-study grant is available to students in Germany to work in the USAC Lüneburg office.
University of Oslo Scholarship (Oslo, Norway)
Students accepted on the USAC Oslo program with a minimum 3.0 GPA are eligible.

External Scholarships
US citizens on semester or yearlong programs. Focus on geographic areas, languages and fields of study.
Federal Pell Grant recipients for programs longer than 4 weeks.
Offers several scholarships for study abroad.
Golden Key Members are eligible to apply.
Students with high academic achievement (over 3.75 GPA) are invited to apply. Membership in Phi Kappa Phi is not required.
Contact your local Rotary club to learn more about Rotary’s scholarship opportunities.
This grant is designed to support foreign language training and other academic studies abroad.
Applicants must be undergraduate students in a Travel, Tourism, or Hospitality program.
External Region-Specific Scholarships
USAC students attending the Chengdu or Shanghai programs are eligible.
USAC students attending the Hiroshima, Nagasaki, or Osaka/Kobe programs are eligible.
USAC students attending the Lüneburg program are eligible.
USAC students who are Italian American or majoring in Italian studies or a related field.
USAC students attending the Brighton, Bristol, London, or Reading programs are eligible.
USAC students attending the Haifa program are eligible.
USAC students attending the Copenhagen program and have strong interest in Danish background.
USAC students attending the Istanbul program are eligible.

Discounts
Returning/Extending Student Discount
This discount applies to all USAC students with no outstanding balance who return or extend to a USAC Specialty program. Students who return from or are currently participating on a USAC semester/yearlong program are eligible for $500 discount for a semester/yearlong Specialty program; $300 discount for a summer or January Specialty program. Students who return from or are currently participating on a USAC summer or January program are eligible for $300 discount for a semester/yearlong Specialty program; $100 discount for another summer or January Specialty program.
Consortium Faculty, Staff and Their Dependents
Faculty, staff and their dependents of USAC offices and Member Universities are eligible for a discount for a USAC Specialty program: $300 for a summer or January program and $500 for a semester or a yearlong program.
