I love the field trips!! They were very informative and well organized. I loved that we always went to places I wouldn't have gone to, but now I want to go back to them all!

USAC has been providing study abroad opportunities for over 30 years now, we always want to know what you’ve accomplished and how study abroad has impacted your life after returning home, after graduation, in your career, and beyond. Articles

USAC awards $50 to any student who has published an article or essay in a newspaper, journal or magazine about his/her study abroad experience. Essay guidelines are as follows: 

  1. Must be a publishable, personal essay about in-depth insights into the daily cultural, academic, political and social realities of life abroad. "Snapshot" stories are acceptable as long as they address the larger environment in which the moment occurred.
  2. All submissions must be between 300-900 words in length. This approximately measures 2-3 double-spaced pages in standard 12-point font.
  3. Specific mention of USAC, program attending and link to usac.unr.edu 
  4. Blogs are not eligible
  5. An article must be published to be eligible for payment (either submitted for publication by USAC on behalf of student or by student directly). If article was previously published, a copy of the published article must be submitted along with a word version and/or weblink for the USAC website. It is USAC's discretion to pay the $50 award for a previously published article.
  6. All submissions must include: 
    1. name
    2. story title/location
    3. address
    4. phone
    5. primary email
    6. college or university
    7. Include a fun and brief bio after the story
  7. A series of articles for a college or hometown paper is considered to be 3 or more articles submitted during time abroad and will be paid a one-time award of $150. Send in proof of publications to the USAC Central Office, Attn: Publications Manager.
