When I signed up for an internship, I was expecting to receive a task that involved sitting at a desk, answering phones, sorting mail, and getting coffee for my coworkers, because that is what most of my friends do for their summer internships. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I was assigned to do marketing for a car designer because it meant that the work I was doing would actually be meaningful to someone’s business, and not a waste of my time.
